From Fast-Track Success to Surrender: My Journey in Tech and Faith

A fast-rising career, a medical emergency, a startup and a return to corporate life. What felt like setbacks were seasons in which God dismantled my pride and built resilience, humility and purpose.

Growing up, church was something I went to simply because my parents made me. Faith was a routine, not a core part of my life. Yet, whenever true trouble surfaced, an instinct took over: I prayed. And time after time, the storms cleared as if they were never there. It was a subtle pattern I wouldn’t fully understand until much later in life.

Early in my career, my trajectory moved fast. I rose through the ranks quickly, stepping into leadership and driving innovation wherever I was stationed. My work took me across global hubs—Singapore, Hong Kong, emerging Asian markets, and the US. By the early 2010s, I found myself right at the center of the enterprise digital transformation wave.

Organizations were recognizing my work, programs were scaling, and by all external metrics, I was on top of my game. But with that rapid ascent came pride. I became egoistic, self-reliant, and unwilling to back down from arguments or challenges, believing my success was entirely of my own making.

Then came the mid-2010s, and with it, an unexpected halt.

A serious medical emergency forced me to step back from the corporate fast track and take an extended sabbatical. While my drive hadn't vanished, my daily reality changed overnight.

In the quiet weight of that season, stripped of titles and momentum, I often cried out to the Lord—our God, our Heavenly Father—asking Him to lift me out of this deep slumber and restore my path. To adapt, I turned to consulting and freelancing, relying on a foundational skill I had never abandoned: coding. Hands-on development became my anchor and my bread and butter, while prayer became my sanctuary through a season of profound uncertainty and spiritual resetting.

When the pandemic hit, that entrepreneurial spirit

resurfaced. I founded a startup, bringing together some of the most capable industry leaders I knew as co-founders. We successfully validated our solution, proving the concept works. But as startup life often demands, when funding ran out, I had to pivot again.

That pivot led me back to the corporate world in the US, where my technical execution was renewed, sharpened, and elevated. Over the last three years, that path has evolved into driving AI and intelligent transformation—helping organizations bridge the gap between pure digital systems and true machine intelligence.

Looking back across the corporate summits, the medical detours, the startup valleys, and the AI frontier, I see a clear pattern. What felt like setbacks were actually seasons of refinement. God used every line of code, every trial, and every unexpected shift to dismantle my pride and build true resilience, humility, and purpose. Today, my work is no longer just about building software or leading organizations—it’s about stewarding the gifts, technology, and opportunities I’ve been given to serve others with integrity and faith.
